• New Parent Ambassador Program with Centro Rendu, St. Vincent de Paul

A New Memo of Understanding has been established with St. Vincent de Paul of King County and the Office for Catholic Schools.

This partnership will advance Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Seattle and position them as accessible and welcoming to Latino/Hispanic families as well as strengthen the Latino/ Hispanic - Catholic School relationship in the Archdiocese of Seattle.

SVdP will liaison with Missions Office and Maryknoll to coordinate opportunities to advance the Missionary Discipleship Institute initiatives and adapt MDI resources to advance the Catholic identity mission. It is agreed that all Catholic school communities are included and invited to participate in the SVdP/OCS partnership, including those with whom the OCS has already established a Parent Ambassador Model Program (PAM Program).

This school year, Mirya Muņoz-Roach, MA, Associate Director of SVdP of King County and Jackie Lloyd-Evans, Grants Specialist at SVdP of King County, and Sandra Smith have been working to reframe and retool our current Parent Ambassadors Program and resources through the lens of our Catholic identity.

Jackie and Mirya work tirelessly to support Centro Rendu which exists to create support systems for Latino immigrant families through education, leadership development, and opportunities that promote and strengthen healthier communities and future generations. In the next week, all schools will receive a brief questionnaire from the Centro Rendu leadership about each school's local readiness and engagement with a Parent Ambassador Program. This questionnaire will help us determine readiness and opportunity as we launch our new Parent Ambassador Program this summer. Thank you!
